To be the primary facilitator for Knowledge Exchange and business collaboration amongst the County's economic communities.

History & Funding

In September of 2004 the University of Gloucestershire received funding, from the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the South West of England Regional Development Agency, to fund GEN; an online and off-line networking tool for the businesses of Gloucestershire geared to enhancing a feeling of ‘community’ amongst all those engaged in economic activity in the County.

Who We Are?

The Gloucestershire Enterprise Network, or GEN as it is now more commonly known, is the County’s on-line and off-line networking tool.

Launched by the University of Gloucestershire in November 2005, GEN has gone from strength to strength, with member numbers increasing and new areas of the site being developed.

David Owen, GEN Director, is delighted with the launch of GEN and its subsequent growth. Speaking at the launch event at the Cheltenham Racecourse, David commented: "The Gloucestershire Enterprise Network has been geared to enhance a feeling of community amongst businesses in the County."

"It provides the first one-stop resource for business support together with a platform for themed discussion and promotional activity for those engaged in economic activity in Gloucestershire."

GEN has been developed in collaboration with two of the County’s leading business support organisations, Business Link Gloucestershire and Gloucestershire First both of whom have provided the GEN website with a range of useful information relating to the local economy and offer business support.
